OUR STORY

In 2017, Adrian Berumen and Cristian Nuñez founded Mariachi Cielo Azul at UT Austin with just six friends. Today, we are Austin’s largest professional mariachi, featuring 13 elite musicians. Every member is a current or former student of the university’s prestigious mariachi program, blending academic mastery with cultural pride. We even perform our own signature anthem, the original 'Mariachi Cielo Azul Tema', arranged by Alan Chen.

Our journey includes iconic stages like the Bob Bullock Museum and the Dell Children’s Ball. Beyond the music, we are passionate advocates for youth mentorship and cultural fundraising, culminating in our 2025 Noche de Gala to support mariachi education. From Spurs games to local galas, we don’t just play the classics. We champion our community’s future while honoring its vibrant heritage.
